At the Center for Fathers & Families

18 years ago at the Center for Fathers and Families, we began our Daddy's Here fatherhood support program. This photo is from our very first gathering in the park with single fathers and children. Two of the fathers have gone on to heaven and three of the fathers are still with the program. There is so much strength, love, bonding, and success in this photo.  #daddyshere #Dadicated #fatherhood #dadsmatter

Parent
Support

Our parenting classes cover a wide variety of topics designed to enhance your already in place parenting skills: recognizing your parenting style, setting boundaries, anger management, developmental stages of childhood/adolescences, and stages of discipline, self-esteem, family conflict, communication and how to discuss sensitive topics with your children. We include an extensive section on process and stages of divorce/break ups and how to design a successful co-parenting plan.

We have started two new support groups at the Center for Fathers and Families.

Dealing with Teenagers and Being a Mom.

Taming Your Temper

Develop skills to stay calm in high energy and challenging situations.  Learn how to deflect negativity and also to become more assertive instead of aggressive.  This class will help participants deal with people who know how to push buttons to alter personalities.  Road rage, relationship issues, dealing with the boss – any challenges that could make you lose control can be easily managed. These sessions will also help manage stress, which will help participants be the best person they can be.  Classes held Tuesdays, 4 pm.

Co-Parenting

These sessions help participants focus on the best interests of their child/children and increase their communication and functioning abilities with their co-parent. Learn more effective ways to get your point across and develop more patience and understanding in conversations to make life easier and more enjoyable for the children. Co-parenting does not have to be a battle.  Find peace in moving forward.  Classes held Tuesdays at 5:00 pm.

Practical Parenting

Children do not come with instruction manuals. These sessions will help participants learn the stages children go through and how to navigate them.  Learn about low and no cost activities to enjoy with your children, how to “speak their language,” support them in the way that matters the most to them, and to become the nurturing the parent they need. Classes held Tuesdays at 4-5pm.

Daddy's Here

Father support group helping men become better fathers by learning from one another in a group setting. Classes held Thursdays at 7pm.

Private individual, one-on-one classes are available upon request for a fee

One-on-One Sessions

One-on-one sessions differ from classes because participants receive relationship advice, life skills training, court document preparation help, family reunification assistance and parenting advice.  These sessions offer flexibility to meet participants’ individual needs beyond the topics mentioned above.  Clients set the agenda.

All classes are offered at Center for Fathers and Families, located at 920 Del Paso Boulevard, Sacramento. For more information about our adult services, please contact Terry Moore at 916-568-3237 x210 or terry@cffsacramento.org.
